Iran movie wins 5 nominations in France Filmfest

Pouran Derakhshande's 'Under the Smoky Roof' has won nominations in 5 different categories at 4th Nice International Film Festival in France.  

All 5 nominations of the film which are in the Foreign Language Film section of the festival include:

Masoud Salami for Best Cinematography award  

Azita Hajian for Best Supporting Actress award

Shahram Haghighatdoust for Best Supporting Actor award

Pouran Derakhshandeh for Best Original Screenplay of a Feature Film and Best Director of a Feature Film awards

‘Under the Smoky Roof’ is based on the social and emotional dilemma of divorce in Iranian culture.

The movie narrates the story of Shirin who faces challenges in her relationship with her family and tries to mend the relations.

Notable among the cast are Farhad Aslani, Merila Zarei, Behnoush Tabatabaee, Nafiseh Roshan, Hesam Navab Safavi and Shahram Haghighatdoust.

The 4th Nice International Film Festival is strategically placed a few days before the Cannes Film Festival.

The festival, which is rich with a wealth of talent from around the world, kicks off today, and will last till May 12, 2018.
